On Tuesday 21st October, Vivek Singh gathered friends, family and colleagues together to celebrate the publication of his fifth cookbook – Spice at Home – at his modern-Indian restaurant, Cinnamon Kitchen in Devonshire Square.

Guests were treated to tasty spice-infused canapés that feature in the new cookbook, including chilli fish rolls with mustard ketchup, chargrilled guinea fowl with peanut chutney, and lamb seekh kebab wrapped in roomali roti. Exquisite bowl food such as baked cod on poha, and old Delhi style black leg chicken with pilau rice followed, and to finish, guests were served decadent desserts including cumin profiteroles with lemon curd and carrot halwa spring rolls.

The cocktails flowed throughout the evening, with fruity concoctions such as the Butterfly Kiss – Bacardi, fresh lime, Aperol, gomme and fresh raspberries; and the Cinnamon Punch – Pierre Ferrand Cognac, crème de peche, Plantation dark rum, gomme, fresh lemon and lime.

Spice at Home’s publisher, Jon Croft, spoke about working with Vivek on his five cookbooks throughout the years, before Vivek took to the stage to thank people for their support, including his wife Archana.

The cookbook is a collection of over 100 modern recipes from Vivek’s home in India and his home in Britain, with many that connect the two cultures by spice, with tempting dishes such as lamb shank roganjosh.
